Attitude Problems (The parents & the children)

 4. The Parents
-It is very common for both the Father and Mother to go out and work today. National Population and Family Development Board director-general Datuk Dr Aminah Abdul Rahman said that today's young need to work to make ends meet so they ended up sending their parents to homes and their children to nurseries or child care centers to cope with the rat race. On the other hand, those parents who have low income, they have no choice but to send their children to orphanage. They are irresponsible, most of them are working full time from morning to evening and when they are home they are too tired to take care of their children.
-On the other hand, let's look at the good side of poor families send their children to orphanage. They have no money to give the babies milk or education, if they do not do so they might die of hunger, sending them to a better place if actually good for them. We have to understand their situation and try to think on their point of view but not just seeing the bad side of this action. They are still a lot of poor families that living below the poverty line which is earn less than 2 dollars per day.

Reason 1: They claimed that they have no time to take care of their children - busy
Reason 2: Inability to raised them up - poor family

*This is a quite touching article that worth reading. When I finished reading this article, I feel that I'm a very lucky child and I'm thankful to my family.

5. The Children
-They are irresponsible and self-centered. We can see all these news in the newspapers almost everyday that more senior citizens are being abandoned by their children nowadays. The most frequently occurring cases is old folks being abandoned by their family in the public hospitals.

The hospitals, have no choice but to refer the old folks to shelters run by the Government or NGOs as they need the beds for new patients. The family members refused to bring them back even though they are already fully recovered, they insisted that the old folks are still unwell. In addition, some family members could not be contacted because fake telephone numbers and addresses were given during registration. Another common excuse was that the children have no time to fetch their elderly parents back. Some of them even assumed that it is the Government's responsibility to take care for their elderly parents. This is a very serious attitude and moral problems, children are spoofing their parents away without notification!

Reason: 95% of those abandoned came from poor families.

This makes me think deeper that, back to few years ago when our parents were still young, they are poor too even though they have about 10 siblings, yet our grandparents do not give up to raise each of them up. But today, in the 21st century, the children are willing to abandoned their parents in such a way? It is obvious that there is a change in society's values.

According to the Social Welfare Department, the number of old folk deserted by their families had steadily increased by 1% every year between 2008 and 2011. One of the coordinators at Rumah Kasih (an NGO set up to care for abandoned patients in government hospitals) took in 340 senior citizens in 2011 as compared with 248 in 2010.

Solution:  Education
-The education system in Malaysia need to be changed so that top students are not only did well in academic but also well-behaved and have kind-hearted.
-Parents should not being overprotective to their children by giving too much of love, money or material comforts but should focus more on spiritual education and moral values so that when they grow up they are aware of the responsibility to repay or take care of their own parents

Pls give comments or any additional opinions or findings so that I can improve myself, thank you.
