Need of sense of belonging in Social Welfare Centres

Most of the old folks home, orphanages and disabled homes do not have the 'home' feeling, the abandoned could not feel the warmth living in those homes. The main reason is the space planning is too direct, which is a public area where they sleep, eat and do everything there and a private area which is the toilets. They do not have their own space to do activities. Another reason is there is no design at all, there are just 4 plain walls with little paintings which indirectly give the abandoned a sense of loneliness.

Social welfare buildings also need design but they are being abandoned all the time, designers, architects and the government need to be aware of this and take actions to solve this problem to help the abandoned folks in order to give them a little sense of belonging.
